Tracklisting & More Information

Background:
Sixties Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition. Beatles albums are no exception to this rule, covers are often torn, records badly scratched and labels barely legible, yet their scarcity and differences make them highly sought-after among collectors.

Between 1963 and early 1965 Beatles albums were issued in mono only on a red "Parlophon" label, these are some of the rarest Beatles items to find in any condition! In mid 1965 Parlophone issued Beatles albums on a silver and black label, again the logo read "Parlophon" without the 'e'. This lasted until 1968 when all albums were reissued in Stereo and the labels changed to "Parlophone" with the 'e'

In 1968, the Beatles switched to the Apple label. The albums on Parlophone did not switch to Apple in Italy but remained on Parlophone.
In 1969 Italy became part of the European Economic Community numbering system. Italy began to use the EEC numbering system. The country code for Italy was "3". Some copies of the black Parlophon label can be found with the additional EEC number; these are harder to find. Most copies of the black-and-silver Parlophone/EMI label have both the EEC number and the original Italian number -- except Beatles In Italy, which was not given an EEC equivalent.

Therefore this copy of Yellow Submarine can be confirmed as original, 1st issue as it's original release was in 1969, yet it lacks the EEC number on the sleeve which was introduced later that year.

The Apple labels show very few spindlemarks indicating little play.

The matrix numbers are machine stamped and are as follows

Side One
Side Two

The vinyl is in beautiful condition and plays without skipping, jumping or excessive noise. Even the tracks breaks are almost silent. There are just a few very light hairline marks, probably caused by the removal of the record from the unlined black inner bag, these are inaudible and are only visible on close inspection.

The picture sleeve is front laminated and similar to the UK issue, the main exception being on the rear of the sleeve, below the 1st red line the text is in English, but below the 2nd red line the text is in Italian. There is no damage to the sleeve of any kind, the rear of the sleeve which hasn't had the benefit of being protected by laminate these last 35 years is slightly discoloured in places but remains the best copy of this highly sought after rarity that we've come across in 20 years and the lucky owner will never need to upgrade!
