Paper Dress

BOB DYLAN Paper Dress (Stunning original 1966 UK Paper Dress manufactured by the Scott Paper Company in non-woven fibre. It features a large black & white portrait of Dylan from Blonde On Blonde period. There are a couple of small tears at theseam pleats near the neck but they really are insignificant. The Velcro fastenings at the shoulders are still happily intact and the image shows little sign of fading or historical staining. Size is 80cm length from neckline to hem, 44cm across the chest under arms.)

The wonderful paper dress was a must-have fashion item in the mid to late sixties. They were designed by people such as Andy Warhol and featured icons such as this Blonde On Blonde era black and white image of Dylan.

The paper dress was introduced by the Scott Paper Company in 1966 as a promotion tool for their range of paper towels and coloured toilet paper.
Made from paper blended with other cellulose material the dresses became an instant success and sold over half a million at around $1.50 each.
They were easily modified for individuality, however there were many problems in that they were itchy, tore easily, transparent when wet and had a tendancy to catch fire!

By 1968 the demand for this fashion fad had waned and the paper dress was discarded.

This item is very rare & in wonderful condition.
