BRASS MONKEY (70S) Brass Monkey (Rare 1970 Australian
10-track LP, the debut album by this estranged prog rock
outfit featuring Mike Morgan also of The Mike Batt Orchestra,
released on Festival's more specialist arm, originally
licensend by UK's Egg Productions. This rare nugget includes
versions of Sonny Bono's Bang Bang [My Baby Shot Me Down],
Holland, Dozier, Holland's You Keep Me Hangin' On, and
Fogerty's Proud Mary. The group went on to release one more
LP and a smattering ofsingles before fading into the ether,
making this a really neat find. The front laminated gatefold
picture sleeve [sporting a fantastic inner spread image!]
shows some general edge scuffing/chipping to the laminate
but is otherwise in excellent order with no spits or writing and
clear legible text and vivid panels. The labels have some
general light spindle marks to reveal play but nothing
excessive and the vinyl displays only paper scuffs from light
use, most likely just from removal from the jacket, overall
retaining nice deep sheen and looking seldom spun or at least
played with care - a great obscure deeper cut from the vaults
of the early 70s, and from down-under to boot, bonus!
