GENTLE GIANT Octopus (Mid 70s UK Vertigo spaceship label issue of the 1972 8-track vinyl LP, the formidable fourth album which marked the last involvement of eldest Shulman brother Phil, & the first outing for third drummer John Weathers, whostayed with the band thereafter, engineered by Martin Rushent [T-Rex, Yes, Buzzcocks, Stranglers], this is a cult classic among prog fans. Includes the brain-melting complexity of Knots, full of interlocking vocal harmonies wedded to bold symphonicrock sounds. The gatefold sleeve shows light print wear and a small paperloss spot, whilst the vinyl has just a couple of light hairlines and is excellent. Recommended)
