A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...

TRIGGER Smoke + Mirrors (2001 UK 13-track CD album featuring the excellent track 'Chameleon' with George Michael on backing vocals & additional production. Independently released following the demise of George's Aegean record label, and the sad death of original band member Jim Thomas, this well crafted album deserved so much more... now's your chance to finally give it a full audition!)

Tracklisting: 1. Chameleon (backing vocals & additional production: George Michael) 2. Vaguely Familiar 3. Whenever You're Near 4. Pleasure And Purple 5. Human Do 6. I Let It Move Me 7. Tiger Lily 8. Dizzy 9. If 10. Dream 11. Millenium 12. 1.00" Silence 13. Sometimes It Snows In April In the autumn of 1996 James Jackman (keyboards and production) met Arianne Shreiber - a friend of a friend. Arianne was born in South Africa and Êa passionate song writer. The pair began writing material days after first meeting up, Arianne writing the melodies and lyrics, James laying down the foundations. Soon after Jim Thomas (a friend of another friend!) and an extremely talented guitarist got involved; the three really connected and the band TRIGGER was formed. The demo tape they compiled towards the end of 1996 contained three tracks - Chameleon, Tiger Lily and Pleasure and Purple, and it was entirely constructed in James' Tufnell Park bedroom overlooking a choked and smoggy arterial road. Amongst the tapes sent out, and at the suggestion of a friend of Ariannes, she sent one to George Michael's fledging label Aegean based in Highgate, North London. Two days later and a week before the band's first live show George Michael called Arianne at home, and within a week Aegean committed to signing them. Throughout 1997 the band worked with Niall Flynn, George's engineer, and started putting an album together. George Michael was a powerful and inspiring influence at this time and helped shape, and provide backing vocals for one of the tracks Chameleon. Towards the end of the summer Jim fell ill. James and Arianne kept writing and kept the momentum going but missed his considerable input. Tragically Jim was diagnosed with Leukemia in the winter and became very ill. In March 1998 he died. James and Arianne were devastated. James and Arianne gradually picked up the pieces. Jim's death made them utterly determined to see the album through, and their focus and motivation was clear to everyone. They started working with the producer Ben Hillier,(140db) and finally completed the album in July 1998. Trigger's sound is a combination of various influences, mainly dance driven, touching on Drum 'n'Bass, Big Beat, Trip Hop, Pop, Jazz and more traditional elements to match. The band are heavily song-based, but have the cutting edge to rock any venue on any night with their powerful styles and sounds. The band's originality lies in the mixture of influences and the quality of the songs. For example Pleasure and Purple track is very much on a tough drum 'n' bass tip, whereas Chameleon trip hops out of the speakers. Despite the variation, each song has a distinct edge to it and they always sound like Trigger. A few weeks after they finished the album a bad year got worse when Aegean ceased to function as a label and they were released from their contract just as they were ready to go out with the album and single campaigns. In retrospect, it wasn't so bad. James started working closely with George Michael, writing and remixing. James and Niall formed a production partnership, and remixed Fantasy, the B-side to George's hit single Outside, as well co-writing last summers hit single 'Freeek!'. The pair have since worked on material with Louise Wener, various remix projects for a whole host of artists and are now completing material with George Michael for his forthcoming album (due out early 2004). Arianne has also continued to work with a whole range of artists and still proves to be one of the most talented song writers and vocalists around. Arianne has completed work with Rob Davis, Manchild, Loose Headz, ExLover and Dan Parry. Biography / PR courtesy MapMusic.
