A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
 | THE JAZZ FIVE The Five Of Us (One-Off 1961 UK 2 x One-Sided
Test Pressing for both sides of the impossibly rare
6-track deep groove mono LP on Tempo Records, part of
Tempo's sought after Modern Jazz Series. This was the last
recording for the collectable Tempo imprint, recorded at Decca
Studios, London on October 23 & November 12, 1960, picking up
where the Jazz Couriers left off for a hot modern Bop outing
starring the great Vic Ash on tenor sax [inspired by Tubby
Hayes], Brian Dee on Piano, Malcolm Cecil on Bass & Bill Eyden
or Tony Mann on Drums. The factory labels are custom printed
with 'Not For Sale' text & annotated with the matrix detail,
catalogue number & tracklist with no artist or album name in
place at this early stage - a wonderful find for the British Jazz
historian & collector. Housed in plain die-cut sleeves, the correct
VMGT 1 1742-1B'/ 'VMGT 1 1743-1B' matrix numbers are
stamped in the run-outs of the vinyl. Best heard on its intended
mono playback setting, the heavyweight vinyl has been
professionally cleaned & is strictly graded VG at best both sides.
There are multiple scuffs & hairlines either side, however
playback reveals great sound quality with light background
surface to be expected & the occasional few clicks on rotation
with no jumps or sticks. A unique one-off discovery TAP32)
