MIKE WESTBROOK CONCERT BAND Celebration (Archive Quality 1967 UK first press 8-track stereo LP on the red & white Deram label, featuring original compositions from band leader Westbrook & John Surman along with Mike Osborne [alto sax], MalcolmGriffiths [trombone], Harry Miller[bass], Alan Jackson [sticks] & Dave Holdsworth [trumpet, flugal horn] etc. Recorded between 29th July 1967 & 5th August 1967 - an outstanding debut from Westbrook & a top British jazz rarity to boot! The front laminated sleeve & the vinyl are both Excellent to Near Mint with barely any signs of wear or play in its life. The sleeve [VG] shows light wear & corner creasing, whilst the vinyl has light scuffs leaving it VG+ - a nice stereo copy and the first we've had in quite a while! SML1047) MIKE WESTBROOK Metropolis (Rare 1971 UK export copy of the stereo LP, a nine-movement piece arranged for big band & including Part IX, as featured on Gilles Peterson's Impressed compilation. After Metropolis received a domestic release in theUKon the exotic Neon subsidiary of RCA, certain countries did not recognise the 'RCA Neon' label, & so a limited number were pressed on a regular orange RCA label for export use, with the 'NE 10' Neon reference on label. This copy originates from the private collection of a former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross.
