JULY The Wight Album - White Vinyl (2020 UK limited edition 23-track 2-LP set pressed on White Vinyl. The quintessential cult 60s British psychedelic group are back with a brand new record. While their now legendary eponymous debut from1968 owed much to the colourful ingenuity of Sgt. Pepper, their new creation is a playful homage in its title and artwork to The White Album, albeit reflecting co-founder Tom Newman's recording base on the Isle Of Wight. Factory sealed gatefold picture sleeve)

Tracklisting: The West London group have been praised by successive generations of bands, who have been influenced by that seminal debut album. For example, The Horrors' Rhys Webb has played onstage with July in recent years. " July in 2020 consist of Tom and his old cohort Peter Cook - the band originally reunited in 2009 to play a string of acclaimed shows and also to make new albums. In 2013, they unveiled the aptlytitled Resurrection but The Wight Album is an altogether more ambitious musical venture. JULY July (Very rare 1969 Brazilian first [& only] issue of the 1968 12-track mono LP with Major/Minor credits to the labels & sleeve. This LP was produced in extremely small numbers, making it actually rarer than the UK version. Originally released on Major Minor in the UK, this superb release went largely unnoticed at the time, but is now held in the same high regard as Tomorrow, Blossom Toes, The Koobas and many other luminaries of the UK Sixties psych scene, with awesome bitingguitar, rich harmonies, sitar, bongos, and above all, inventive songwriting. Apart from a couple of small splits that have appeared in the top & bottom seams as a result of forty years of storage, the fully laminated picture sleeve shows just a few light creases and a little edgewear, with the spine text still remaining clearly visible. The labels display only minor spindlewear and the vinyl itself reveals very little indication of play with surface noise kept to a minimum throughout. Far from the norm with Brazilian releases of this age, which are normally found wrecked with torn sleeves & an abundance of writing, this copy shows no such defects apart from those already mentioned. A superb copy of this seldom seen South American mono issue of a very rare album indeed! MD-2177)

Tracklisting: Side One: 1. My Clown 2. Dandelion Seeds 3. Jolly Mary 4. Hallo To Me 5. You Missed It All 6. The Way Side Two: 7. To Be Free 8. Move On Sweet Flower 9. Crying Is For Writers 10. I See 11. Friendly Man 12. A Bird Lived Personnel: Tom Newman - lead vocals, guitar (later Producer & engineer of Mike Oldfield) Tony Duhig - lead guitar, organ (went onto Jade Warrior) Chris Jackson - drums, organ (later musician with Cat Stevens & The Tomcats) Jon Field - vocals, flute, organ (later musician with The Tomcats) Alan James - bass guitar (later musician with The Tomcats)
