single boxset released to celebrate the 60th birthday of the renowned
American jazz musician, housed in a heavyweight velvet styled box with
six 7" singles all pressed on differentcoloured vinyl, each with its own
individual picture sleeve plus a 32-page booklet with colour pics, lyrics
and liner notes. Each piece of music features an all-star band of Zorn
regulars, including the the voices of Mike Patton, Jesse Harris, and
Sofia Rei. The outer box shows a little light shelfwear, the contents and

Once Upon a Time in the West |  | JOHN ZORN Spillane (From the twisted world of John Zorn, comes
the 1987 three track mini-masterpiece LP that is 'Spillane'. No less
than fifty three minutes of fast changing metamorphosing inspirational
music from the twenty five minute title track through to the very end
of the second side. If you're hoping for an easy ride, please leave for
the Stan Getz section, for this is anything but. Based on themes and
ideas taken from the down and out American Private 'Dick', Mike
Hammer, with original texts by Arto Lindsey, this conjures up the
entire panorama of a Blade Runner-esque run down city and its night
life. With contributions from The Kronos Quartet, Bill Frisell, Bob
James, Albert Collins, Ronald Shannon Jackson & more, this copy is
complete with the narrative/interview inner, glossy picture sleeve. The
sleeve shows some light wear to the front with minor yellowing to the
spine however, the vinyl appears excellent with faint signs of play.
