A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| HOT HITS Hot Hits 8 (1971 UK 12-track stereo compilation LP,
part of a UK phenomenon which saw the two major budget
labels compete weekly to attempt to second guess & record
cover versions of the following weeks chart toppers. Each
album had to be tracklisted, recorded, manufactured & in the
shops in time for the following weeks chart announcements,
meaning that they were of necessity produced incredibly
quickly. This meant that some of the cream of the UK's
session musicians wereused in order to get the songs down in
the minimum of takes. People such as Elton John, members of
Thin Lizzy & Deep Purple, along with many other notable
'names' are known to have participated in these sessions,
making these albums now quite sought after by completists &
very hard to get in mint condition over thirty years on. The
pressings are good & solid & the sleeves are front laminated.
All in all it was a quality product issued in record time, week
in & week out that only stopped when the New Wave put 7"
singles back as the format of choice & made the possibility of
predicting the following weeks pop charts almost impossible.
This copy has only minor wear and light signs of play
