A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| EMCEE FIVE Volume One (Monster Rare 1962 UK-only 7" mono EP,
on a rough textured Alpha International label with three-prong centre.
Features two originals, 'John O'Groats' [penned by tenor sax man
Gary Cox] & 'Northumberland' [penned by pianist Mike Carr] recorded
at the Agogo Club in Newcastle-on-Tyne on October 15th 1962. This is
Ian Carr & chums kicking out the jams with the band also starring
Mike Carr, Gary Cox, Midge Pike & Johnny Butts, a date selected
when the group were touring the North with Harold McNair. This EP is
ten times harder to find than the 'Let's Take Five!' EP, which sold a
tadge better, being on Columbia, but is still impossible to locate. This
Brit Jazz rarity comes from the private collection of a former staff
member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross, London, buried
away in the archives for over half a century. The unique sleeve is
front laminated with flipbacks [small timing annotation by the b-side]
& has a glowing Charles Fox review printed on the back. The sleeve is
Excellent with some light corner creasing from ring wear & the vinyl
appears Near Mint. One for the hardcore completist, never to be seen
again... DB/92) | | EMCEE FIVE Volume One (Monster Rare 1962 UK-only 7" mono EP,
