A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...

JIMMY KNEPPER A Swinging Introduction To Jimmy Knepper (Very scarce 1957 US 9-track deep groove mono vinyl LP on a brick red & silver Bethlehem label with 'Micro Cosmic Sound' print, Jimmy's debut album as a leader & a prime example of the cool side of Bop. The performances are played alongside a young Bill Evans [pianist Bob Hammer plays on three non-Evans starring numbers], Gene Roland [trumpet], Gene Quill [alto sax], Teddy Kotick [bass] & Dannie Richmond [drums], pasted laminate picture sleeve. See 'more info'... BCP-77)

Tracklisting: Love Letters 5:05 Ogling Ogre 3:42 You Stepped Out Of A Dream 4:41 How High The Moon 3:58 Gee Baby Ain't I Good To You 4:38 Idol Of The Flies 5:46 Close As Pages In A Book 4:22 Avid Admirer 4:59 Irresistible You 4:05 Condition : - Housed in a handsome monochrome sleeve depcting Jimmy with the compulsory cigarette in shot, many of the covers for this record seemed to be stamped in red on the back for promotional purposes. The sample stamped areas on the back have been torn away on this copy for stock use, a primitive method before the days of printed promotional labels or stickers. With just a couple of number annotations on the back, the only other distractions are a few inevitable paper splits at the far reaching corners, one of which is tape reinforced. Both panels remain clean & the album notes are clearly legible. The artwork too has lost none of its impact. The vinyl is a lovely clean example. This early label design is rarely seen our side of the pond & there are no blemishes that stand in its way. Under a bright light, there are a few very faint paper scuffs detectable & the odd scratch on one or two tracks but these create only minor hiccups such as the odd click here & there on rotation, as expected. The vinyl is graded a healthy VG. Ever so hard to find & a new one to us!
JIMMY KNEPPER Primrose Path (1980 UK 6-track LP, also featuring Bobby Wellins on Tenor, Pete Jacobsen on Piano, Dave Green on Bass & Ron Parry on Drums, picture sleeve. The sleeve shows a little creasing at the corners but otherwise only light shelfwear & the vinyl is flawless HEP2012)

JIMMY KNEPPER SEXTET Tell Me... (1979 Dutch 6-track LP recorded that year in The Netherlands, includes a version of the Mingus favourite Ecclusiastics plus I Thought About You in tribute to Billie Holiday, picture sleeve. This copy originatesfrom the private collection of a former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross The sleeve has a 2" seam split to the top and has light general wear, whilst the vinyl has light signs of play and is Excellent)

Tracklisting: Tell Me Brewery Boys Blues Nearer My God In G Ecclusiastics I Thought About You Home
JIMMY KNEPPER QUINTET Cunningbird (1977 Danish 6-track LP starring Al Cohn, Roland Hanna, George Mraz & Dannie Richmond playing a superb set of Knepper originals, picture sleeve with import sticker attached. The cover [VG+] shows some light age wear scuffing & the vinyl is Excellent & appears barely played SCS-1061)

JIMMY KNEPPER Idol Of The Flies (1982 UK repackaging of the 'Swinging Introduction To Jimmy Knepper' 1957 9-track LP, Jimmy's debut as a leader & a prime example of the cool side of Bop. The picture sleeve shows minimal wear & the vinyl looks barely played AFF89)
