JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins (1968 US Tetragrammaton pressed Apple LP, now classic, but at the time extremely controversial, nude picture sleeve. This was pressed and distributed by Tetragrammaton after Capitol refused to release it with this cover. This didn't stop several States in the US [Porn capital of the world] impounding over fifty thousand copies and banning the album sleeve as 'pornographic'. Unwise, maybe, but hardly pornographic. The protective covering sticker sealed brown paper bag that came with the first copies probably didn't help by including a quote from Genesis; "And They Were Both Naked, The Man And His Wife, And Were Not Ashamed". Still, all things aside it remains a hard to approach experimental album &, along with George's 'Electronic Sound', one of the first experimental albums to be released by a mainstream artist. The sleeve on this copy, being mostly white, does show somelight shelfwear, but the vinyl remains excellent with little sign of play. A nice copy of this hard to find US press at an advantageous price T-5001)
