MONGO SANTAMARIA Afro Roots (1972 US 22-track double LP - Santamaria was easily the most accomplished & acknowledged exponent of Afro-Cuban music working in North America. Dating from 1958-59, these were the first recordings he made as a leader [some indication of their instant acceptance by other musicians & fans is given by the 17+ cover versions of Afro Blue!]. Mongo, Armando Peraza & Willie Bobo also star, & together form a triumvirate of the very best in Afro-Cuban music. Thegatefold picture sleeve [VG+] shows light age wear scuffing with all print legible & the vinyl is Excellent PRST-24018)
