SHIRLEY COLLINS False True Lovers (Very rare 1959 US 1st issue 19-track vinyl LP on the blue Folkways label with '117 West 46th Street' address, pasted picture sleeve with 8-page booklet insert. Nothing short of folk history here as legendary Library of Congress sound recordist [and Shirley's partner at the time] Alan Lomax captures these startling and intimate performances at Peter Kennedy's house in London, in 1958 in a two-day session. Her choice of repertoire and arrangements aresaid to capture a turning moment in the English folk song revival of the 1950s, includes accompaniment from John Hastead, Ralph Rinzler and Guy Carawan. The sleeve, which is still in its opened shrinkwrap, has a little corner bump and a vintage price sticker, and otherwise shows very little wear, the vinyl too is superb and, aside from one very faint paper scuff, looks barely played - we challenge you to find a better one!
