MILES DAVIS +19 Miles Ahead (Rare 1957 first Japanese issue 10-track MONO LP pressed on heavyweight vinyl on a pre-"6-eye" maroon & silver Columbia label, housed in the original withdrawn 'sailboat' sleeve with scalloped flipbacks & silk finish. In the States, the ever forthright Miles, a man not known to mince his words, objected to this first design depicting a young white woman & child aboard a sailboat - Miles supposedly asked Columbia executive George Avakian, "Why'd you put that white bitch on there?". The flimsy sleeve is Excellent with some light ring wear & the vinyl grades Excellent with a nice deep sheen & just a few faint hairline marks to indicate play. Our first original Japanese example!
