MILES DAVIS +19 Miles Ahead (Rare 1957 first Japanese
issue 10-track MONO LP pressed on heavyweight vinyl on a
pre-"6-eye" maroon & silver Columbia label, housed in the
original withdrawn 'sailboat' sleeve with scalloped flipbacks &
silk finish. In the States, the ever forthright Miles, a man not
known to mince his words, objected to this first design
depicting a young white woman & child aboard a sailboat -
Miles supposedly asked Columbia executive George Avakian,
"Why'd you put that white bitch on there?". The flimsy sleeve
is Excellent with some light ring wear & the vinyl grades
Excellent with a nice deep sheen & just a few faint hairline
marks to indicate play. Our first original Japanese example!
