FACTORY The Factory (This incredibly rare 1979 UK poster is a bona-fide slice of British music history. Issued in tiny quantities [around 200 for each poster produced, with around half of this number thrown promptly in the bin!] to promote upcoming gigs at the short-lived Factory club in Moss Side. This example is from early 1979 - and what a few weeks that was! Jan 25th saw Bette Bright's [Sugg's wife!] Illuminations appear with ex-Sex Pistol Glen Matlock amongst the line-up, Saturday26th was a 'Factory Sampler' event with Joy Division supporting Cabaret Voltaire [price of admission was a princely £1!!], with February and March advertising the Human League and The Damned - pheww! Measuring 30" x 20" in size, vivid blue in colour with white text/borders, and the iconic Peter Saville 'Use Hearing Protection' logo in the top left-hand corner, this poster was obtained from a former music industry employee and has never been hung/displayed. Aside from some minor creases evident to the top right-hand section and a some wear along one edge, overall, the poster has survived remarkably well - needless to say, for an item produced in such tiny quantities [and with such a rich musical heritige], the few that do survive rarely come to market - until now!
