BURUNDI BLACK Burundi Black (1981 UK injection moulded 7" single [Parts 1 & 2], a very influential record which first came out in 1971. French artist Michel Bernholc used the pseudonym Mike Steiphenson to adapt an old field recording of drummers from Burundi's musical ensemble Ingoma Tribe, remixing it for the Disco crowd. Malcolm McLaren loved it, Adam Ant sampled it and Bow Wow Wow, Slits, PiL & Siouxie & The Banshees all led the wave of the Burundi post-punk beat. Both the picturesleeve & vinyl remain in excellent condition BA1)
