THE EVERLY BROTHERS A Date With The Everly Brothers (Rare 1960 first issue 12-track mono LP, laminated gatefold picture sleeve with internal pocket. Now we've got the basic stuff out of the way what makes this copy inherently special is the fact that it has been FULLY AUTOGRPAPHED by the brothers as 'Phil & Don Everly' in nicely annotated ink pen on the inside unlaminated front cover next to the tracklisting. This one owner copy has been dated to their 1963 UK tour with the signatures snapped up on the London leg of their tour by an avid fan who despite actually being a close friend of The Kinks favoured the dynamic duo's rock and roll stylings and followed them around as much as she could, thankfully landing these early autographs in the process. Full disclosure, while not wrecked, the condition of the sleeve which also includes facsimile signatures on the reverse as standard leaves a fair amount to be desired with some obvious creasing, yellowing and laminate lift and some small tears along the outer edges, all text is legible however, colours still vivid with that old-school technicolour feel and the inside spread is actually pretty clean boasting some pocket-sized black and white stills of the brlycreemed boys' classic poses, not bad for 57 years on! The vinyl is commensurate with the sleeve and shows a lot of 'love' otherwise known as hairlines, surface scuffs, spindle wear and the occasional light scratch all be it still remaining playable. Look at this way though, what it boils down to is all that is basically immaterial as what you have here is a spectacular piece of rock and roll music memorabilia with the autographs of two of the era's rock & pop treasures, a moment in time captured by a true sixties chick! A lovely little bit of history to keep and pull out on special occasions to impress your friends but really this thing is just crying out to be framed! WM4028)
