Originally released in 1970, Gene McDaniels, rechristened Eugene McDaniels, hit his stride for an Atlantic album record deal with some stripped down street-funk & political soul. Incidentally, the CIA had been observing Eugene since 1969's 'Compared To What' written for Roberta Flack, which contained controversial anti-Vietnam lyrics directed at the President. The sleeve depicts Eugene hanging out in a cemetary with a couple of beret-wearing 'revolutionary' babes toting machine guns... Right on! SD8259)
