Tracklisting & More Information
The LP is dedicated 'To Brode, Jimbo, Ronnie & Kath, Love George H.'.
The Brode in question is none other than David Brodie, Racing driver and personal friend of George & the Harrison family. Jimbo & Ronnie being his sons & Kath his wife. They were friends of the family then and indeed remain so today.
David was an active Director of the BRDC and until recently, was a Director of the Springfield boys club with Jackie Stewart, a post he held for 27 years.
The album itself contains a track that was of particular interest to George, Brodie & fans of motor sport in general, that being the first track on Side Two; 'Faster'.
That track was George's homage to the 'master of going faster', racing driver Jackie Stewart, who was also a personal friend of both George and Brodie.
George arranged for a white label test pressing of the album. This was possibly a one-off as it has 'G-T/P' lightly etched into the run off area of the vinyl, an extra marking not seen on released copies of the album.
The plain white labels have been hand annotated in what appears to be George's own handwriting, with the side one label having 'George Side 1' in red and 'Track 1' [-> 5] in black. No track titles are given.
The side two label has 'G.H. Side 2' in red and the simple 'Track 1 FASTER' in black.
The matrices have endings of -1A & -1B scratched into the runoff area along with 'Strawberry', the studio that did the mastering. From this, it appears to be a test press taken from the finalised mixes & initial master stampers.
Upon the release of the finalised album, George then gave them a copy of that too. In this case it was a copy of the retail US release LP, which he signed and dedicated on the front of the sleeve.
Condition wise, there are a few noticable marks to the vinyl on both discs and some scuffing to the sleeve, but what does that matter in this case ?
It has been loved, as was George, and remains an item of great beauty with a personal connection to the man himself. A unique collection of linked memorablia with the touch of the Harrison hand evident on each. Wonderful !
