MILES DAVIS, ART BLAKEY & BARNEY WILEN Jazz Sur L'écran (1959 French 18-track LP featuring music from the soundtrack of the Louis Malle film 'Ascenseur Pour L'échafaud'. Although credited to the Quintet, this was pretty much a solo Miles project,recorded on December 4th 1957 in Paris. Using a compositional technique of his here for the first time, that of giving the band members more direction than specific parts for the score, he painstakingly made sure that the music fit the mood of the film at anyone time. A missing masterpiece. The front laminated pasted picture sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear with a bit of laminate lift at the spine & the vinyl remains excellent with few signs of play 680.242TL)
