SEX PISTOLS Ivanhoe Theatre, Chicago 31/12/77 (On Christmas Day
1977, the Sex Pistols played their last gigs in the UK for 1977, at
Ivanhoes in Huddersfield [which included a children's matinee
performance!]. By spooky coincidence, their scheduled New Years Eve
gig was also at Ivanhoes, but this time in Chicago, Illinois, as the
second gig of their US Tour. The first planned gig [at Leona Theatre,
Homestead, Pennsylvania] on 29/12/77 was cancelled, as was the
second in Chicago on NewYear's Eve. Both the Homestead gig & the
Chicago gig got as far as having tickets printed and issued, but the
gigs never took place, along with the subsequent gigs in Cleveland &
Alexandria, making their first US date on 05/01/78 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Now looked back on without the levels of 'Outrage' that were
generated wherever they went, the US Tour is remembered as being
the ill fated tour that saw the break up of the band. What we have here
is an extremely rare COMPLETE ticket for that cancelled show
in Chicago on New Year's Eve, that was purchased by the previous
owner with the intention of attending the gig & kept lovingly & safely
ever since. For thirty five year old paper goods, the ticket is in
remarkable condition with just a little light wear & a small strip of
sellotape on the back to protect the centre perforations. A piece of
rock & New Wave history that is seldom seen & very seldom found in
as nice a condition as this - A gem!)
