MICHAEL GARRICK SEPTET Black Marigolds (Rare British jazz 1968 UK 9-track deep groove stereo LP on a purple Argo label, featuring Garrick on piano, harpsichord & celeste, Ian Carr, Joe Harriott, Don Rendell, Tony Coe, Dave Green & Trevor Tomkins plus additional drum work & poetry from Colin Barnes, lending a quirky, decidedly British feel to the whole. Highlights are the Indian raga inspired title track plus the modal workout 'Ursula', the latter compiled on Volume Two of Gilles Peterson's 'Impressed With' compilation. The front laminated sleeve shows only the lightest of ring wear with a perfectly legible spine and unblemished print. The vinyl is clean with no marks or spindle wear. Highly recommended ZDA88)
