THE PAUL WINTER SEXTET Jazz Premiere: Washington (1963 UK 10-track mono vinyl LP, starring Les Rout [baritone], Dick Whitsell [trumpet], Warren Bernhardt [piano], Richard Evans [bass] & Harold Jones [drums]. After Winter came first in a collegiate jazz festival held at Notre Dame University, John Hammond [who writes the sleeve notes and was one of the event's judges] signed them to Columbia; a performance at the White House and a Latin American tour followed, of which this material isdrawn BPG62165)
