SMASHING PUMPKINS Tales of a Scorched Earth (2004 UK 256-page softback book, biography of the most successful alternative rock band of the 90s, initially contemporaries of Nirvana & Pearl Jam, the Pumpkins outgrew the grunge scene with hugely acclaimed commercial triumphs like Siamese Dream & 'Mellon Collie...', unlike many of their contemporaries, they were able to withstand internal problems & keep selling records, emerging as the longest-lasting & most successsful alternativeband of the early 90s, though drugs, the death of a band member & other problems led to the band's final demise)
