The world against John Lennon?

The US August release of Revolver was reduced by three tracks from 14 to 11 and the three compositions removed (I'm Only Sleeping, And Your Bird Can Sing & Dr Robert) were all mainly Lennon compositions and sparked a series of conspiracy theories ranging from the fact that Paul McCartney was in league with their US record company Capitol in a bid to undermine John Lennon's position in the band.

Here are some facts/ideas that conspiracy theorists offer up to explain the sequence of events of 1966:

  • Apparently the FBI thought the Beatles were getting too creative and influential and pressure needed to applied especially after John's Jesus remark
  • The missing Lennon tracks from the US version of Revolver
  • No McCartney tracks were ommitted
  • McCartney refused to play on She Said She Said during the Revolver sessions one of the Lennon songs to survive survived the cull
  • The Butcher photo where Capitol refused to use Lennon's frind Bob Whitaker's Butcher block photo as an album cover
  • Databook releasing Lennon's Jesus remark out of context
