MESSRS. MORTON & SHEPARD A Good Joke (An astonishing German 7" historical artifact recorded in 1900 or 1901 onto a hard rubber base, manufactured in Hannover by Emile Berliner [the first inventor to actually develop a usable disc record technology and founder of 'The Gramophone Company'] with recessed & possibly engraved lettering, recorded in London and spoken in English. This disc plays at about 55rpm and has survived one hundred & twenty years. We even play tested thedisc in the office with great care and what we heard can only be described as voices from the dead...! Hi-Fi it isn't, as it was designed for a bamboo needle and pressed into hard rubber, but to have survived so long and still be playable is nothing short of a miracle) *This is far & away the oldest record we have ever stocked* more... VARIOUS Tempos Of Time (1961 UK 7" vinyl EP which features the narration of Lord Brabazon of Tara G.B.E., M.C., P.C. over a history of the twentieth century that includes a cast, if not of thousands, certainly of many. The excerpts from the history of the world include pieces from Marie Lloyd, Enrico Caruso, Gracie Fields, Dick Bentley, George Formby, The King Brothers, Mussolini, Hitler & Winston Churchill, with specially recorded extracts courtesy of the BBC. Needless to say, this had to be listened to & it actually manages to do a very good job of summing up the previous one hundred years in the space of some ten minutes. A wonderful EP in near 'as new' condition 7EG8644) more... Last copy in stock. Order now for shipping on Monday 22nd April
