A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| THE MAGIC CHRISTIANS If You Want It (Rare 1969 UK first
pressing 7" vinyl single with intact four prong centre & 'Apple
Music' publishing credit, also including Nats, Major Minor
company paper sleeve. An interesting story, this one, as the
singlewas re-issued no fewer than two weeks later with its
more familiar title 'Come And Get It' and a 'Northern Songs'
publishing credit. Written by Paul McCartney, who had been
commissioned to write the theme song for 'The Magic
Christian' film&produced by Gary Wright of Spooky Tooth.
The remaining songs for the soundtrack were to be written by
Denny Laine and Trevor Burton, who are both believed to form
part of 'The Magic Christians'. The B-Side is indeed written by
Trevor Burton. The band that were eventually used in the film
were The Iveys [as Badfinger], along with Thunderclap
Newman, and the earlier Denny Laine / Trevor Burton songs
were scrapped. This single is likely to be from those first film
score sessions that were eventually replaced by the Badfinger
versions, whose own rendition of 'Come And Get It' was
released a week later & produced by Paul McCartney. A very
sixties curio & now very hard to find, this copy is in fantastic
near 'as new' condition! MM673) | | THE MAGIC CHRISTIANS If You Want It (Rare 1969 UK first
