A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| SHEILA JORDAN Portrait Of Sheila (Very Rare Female Vocal
Jazz 1962 US first press 12-track mono vinyl LP on the Blue
Note 'New York USA' address label, with 'Van Gelder' machine
stamped in the run-outs as well as the all important 'ear'
etching both sides. One of the best albums of its kind, Sheila's
cool-toned debut will blow you away, & includes backing from
Barry Galbraith on guitar, Steve Swallow on bass & Denzil Best
on drums, pasted laminate picture sleeve with catalogue
inner. See 'more info' for condition details... BLP9002)
Tracklisting: A1 Falling In Love With Love
A2 If You Could See Me Now
A3 Am I Blue
A4 Dat Dere
A5 When The World Was Young
A6 Let's Face The Music And Dance
B1 Laugh, Clown, Laugh
B2 Who Can I Turn To?
B3 Baltimore Oriole
B4 I'm A Fool To Want You
B5 Hum Drum Blues
B6 Willow Weep For Me
Condition :-
Obtained from a life-long one owner collection of stunning condition jazz records from the fifties & sixties, here is a beautiful example of a one-off record on Blue Note that you rarely ever see.
The pasted laminate picture sleeve appears virtually near mint. There are just two very minor quibbles; an oh-so thin & barely noticeable 1" hairline split in the paper at the bottom & a former library stamp on the back which has faded & is unobtrusive to the print. The cover is otherwise gorgeous near mint & even has the original UK import tax stickers intact on the back.
The inner sleeve bears the 'Finest In Jazz Since 1939' catalogue of the period & is a crisp & unmarked example.
The labels bear the first 'New York USA' address both sides. The 'Van Gelder' stamp is clear to see in the run-outs as well as the all important 'ear' etching both sides. This marking tells you this is the real deal & not a Liberty re-press from later on in the decade when the company started to re-use old stock labels [with the 'ear' etching missing from the run-out]. The labels reveal merely the lightest few signs of play by the spindle hole in the centre & no other blemishes.
The heavyweight vinyl grades Excellent. There are no concerns with the wax & the record plays beautifully. Under a bright light, there are some faint cosmetic or very light paper scuffs which have no affect on play. This is merely the age of the record & you are unlikely to ever better this gorgeous example.
