THE ZOMBIES Odessey & Oracle (1968 US second issue 12-track stereo LP, superb pasted picture sleeve with slightly edited artwork with black border and 'Time Of The Season' listed. One of the 'lost' great albums of all time, like 'S.F. Sorrow'this one just missed the party and a combination of record company flux & internal turmoils caused them to be left on the shelf instead of being up there as the true classics they are. In the US, CBS were not actually going to release the album but finally put it out on their small 'Date' subsidiary. It wasn't until the big hit came with 'Time Of The Season' in 1969, a full two years after it was recorded, that interest in the album began to awaken, but by that time it was too late. The band had broken up, the record company had no real interest in re-issuing the album, so it passed into history. As a consequence, original releases of this album are now highly sought after. This is technically a second issue as the artwork was slightly revamped from the earlier almost direct copy of the UK artwork, but still from 1968. The sleeve on this copy shows very little in the way of shelfwear with just a little age yellowing to be seen on the back slick but nothing material. The sleeve shows a very small amount of edge scuffing & the spine is clearly readable. The vinyl remains in excellent condition with few signs of play and just the odd light surface hairlines to show for its forty five years. Rare enough, but in this condition, rarer still TES4013)
