SONNY CLARK Leapin' And Lopin' (Very rare FIRST ISSUE
1962 US 6-track MONO vinyl LP on the 'New York USA'
perimeter text Blue note label with 'RVG' stamped & 'ear'
mark [present only on the first pressing] in the dead wax,
front laminated pasted picture sleeve with company catalogue
inner. The sleeve has three areas of paper loss to the
unlaminated reverse; one in a blank area, just under the
catalogue number with no impact to any text, the second is
between the second & third paragraphs on the third column,
with some lost text, the final area is on the 'Users of Wide
Range Equipment...' recommendation to the bottom, also with
lost text. That's the bad news out of the way; the front shows
very little sign of wear and still shines brightly. The labels
have a little spindle wear and the vinyl shows very little sign
of play, leaving it an easy Excellent and reaching higher
perhaps. A very hard record to locate at the best of times,
this copy would be a tough one to beat on the vinyl grading!

SONNY CLARK Sonny's Crib (Circa 1966 US issue of the 1958 5-track
mono LP. We believe this to be a Liberty pressing as they set about
leveraging the Blue Note back catalogue in this period, using up old
stock labels in the process. The label here is a 'West 63rd' address
design on side one with no deep groove, no '23' in the address after
'New York' & the registered 'r' trademark at the bottom of 'Note', & a
non-deep groove 'West 63rd - New York 23' address label without the
'r' on side two. 'RVG' is machine stamped in the run-outs & there is a
raised edge before the run-ins but no 'ear'. The pasted picture sleeve
is near mint & still in open shrink. The vinyl is Excellent & reveals very
little evidence of play at all BLP1576)

SONNY CLARK TRIO Sonny Clark Trio (Monster rare 1960 US
first issue 8-track deep groove mono vinyl LP on a red Time
label with 'Long Playing Custom Fidelity' text in white along
the bottom & 'L90P 3605/ 3606' machine stamped matrices in
the run offs. This album is oh-so rare & often overshadowed
by Sonny's work for Blue Note, as it was his only session as a
leader that wasn't for Alfred Lion's label. Recorded in NYC on
March 23rd, 1960, what you have here is the very finest in
Bopled from the piano bench, with all material written by
Sonny alongside the great George Duvivier on bass & Max
Roach on drums. Comes housed in a heavy duty pasted sleeve
with stunning artwork by the contemporary Italian painter,
