NORMAN CONNORS You Are My Starship / Romantic Journey (2010
issue UK 14-track 2-on-1 CD album - On 1976's 'You Are My Starship',
he introduced the incredible Phyllis Hyman to the world. The album
was his biggest seller and spawned the classic title track. The
'Romantic Journey' album from 1977 was his last for Buddah and
features Prince Phillip Mitchell on vocals on the great string laden
modern soul dancer 'Once I've Been There' a fantastic slab of
up-tempo soul. Norman covers another Stylistics classic 'You Are
Everything' this time featuring Eleanore Mills on vocals. The epic title
track starts off slow and atmospheric and then builds into an up-tempo
jazz rock groove. 'Thembi' is another cover of a classic Pharoah track)

NORMAN CONNORS Take It To The Limit / Mr. C (2010 issue UK
16-track 2-on-1 CD album - Norman Connors delivered some of the
finest jazz fusion of the 1970s, often integrated with vocalists and
soloists he would discover and send on their way to significant solo
success. After touring as drummer with Pharaoh Sanders and
featuring on five of his albums, Norman landed at Buddah Records in
1972 then after the acquisition of Buddah by Arista in the late 70s he
arrived at the main Arista imprint in 1980 and delivered these two
classic albums 'Take It To The Limit' and 'Mr.C', the pinnacle of his
work as a musician, co-ordinator, and producer of live music pre the
dawn of programmed drumming and keyboard replicaters. These two
albums fit seamlessly together as one body of work at a special time
for jazz fusion, they are massive sounding pieces of high energy soul
jazz fusion from a true master of the genre)
