KATHLEEN FERRIER Sings Bach & Handel (1978 UK blue boxed Decca
label stereo vinyl LP. Originally performed by the London Philharmonic
Orchestra conducted by Sir Adrian Boult in 1960, this unique recording
added an entirely new stereo orchestralarrangement to a vocal
performance made by Kathleen Ferrier only a few weeks before her
final performance in 1952. This was achieved through meticulous
rehersal and and timing so that the orchestral track synched perfectly
with the vocal performance. The result is a far more authentic sound
than is typical with more modern stereo remasters of of mono
recordings, which tend to by made through manipulation of the orginal
tapes, making this probably the best stereo recording of Kathleen
Ferrier it is possible to find. In addition, both the disc and the front
laminated flipback picture sleeve of this particular example are in mint
conditions and ther are even some cuttings of the original press
realeases included on the inner sleeve. SPA531)
