On Stage - 1st

LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS On Stage (Very scarce 1962 US original 12-track deep groove MONO LP on the black Imperial label, by the Texas Blues legend, often voted one of 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Rather than a live record, this title actually features Hopkins' debut album recordings [previously released as the extremely rare, Strums The Blues] & fleshes them out with a few extra tracks. This is so vital! Please see 'more info' for condition details... LP-9180-A)

Condition :-

Obtained from a one previous owner collection of original blues, R&B, & early rock treasures, this copy is only just now seeing the light of day.

The heavy duty pasted picture sleeve sports the usual signs of vintage for a US LP jacket. A little crinkling to the paper along the spine was inevitable, although it doesn't get in the way of the print. The spine is clearly legible. The top & bottom edges are tape reinforced at the opening due to hairline splits, but this is not old tape & is very nicely done. The sleeve looks fantastic, & stands proud in all its vintage glory, with a historic '45/-' price sticker on the rear. Apart from the splits mentioned, it makes for a lovely VG- copy. US sixties originals rarely find their way to us, whatsoever.

Unusually, the labels look pristine, suggesting very little play. Play testing this record was such a treat. This is the real deal; the raw, American Blues sound like no other. It can't be imitated.
The wax is super clean. Under a bright light you may detect just the very lightest few paper scuffs but these are of no consequence. Playback is exceptional, & any background surface appears to come from the master tapes rather than the vinyl. To the naked idea, we would class the disc as Excellent.

A serious recommendation for the dedicated blues scholar & collector alike.
