This is Miles Davis' first Blue Note recording released in 1952 as a 10" LP with the title apparently borrowed from a 1950 movie of the same name starring Kirk Douglas. The line up on the six song LP features Jay Jay Johnson, Jackie McLean, Gil Coggins, Oscar Pettiford and Kenny Clark backing up the Young Man with a Horn. This record swings and the playing is obviously from a more romantic Miles trying to find his way
