Starman - ULTRA-RARE 8" TRIDENT STUDIOS STEREO ACETATE (1972)

DAVID BOWIE Starman (A true Holy Grail for Bowie collectors - this is an original UK Trident Studios acetate of Starman, the iconic single that launched David Bowie into superstardom in 1972. Featuring a typewritten Trident Studios label with faint handwritten annotations of the title "Starman" and artist "David Bowie", this piece offers an authentic connection to the Ziggy Stardust era. Co-produced by Ken Scott, Bowie recorded the song on 4th February 1972 at Trident Studios in London with his backing band the Spiders from Mars – comprising guitarist Mick Ronson, bassist Trevor Bolder and drummer Mick Woodmansey. Cut for in-house use and immediate playback, acetates like this were also used for mastering, approval, and promotional purposes, making surviving examples exceptionally rare and highly sought-after. An exceptional and historic collector's item from the dawn of glam rock!)
