CHARLIE ROUSE Bossa Nova Bacchanal (1963 US MONO 7-track LP; recorded in 1962 by Rudy Van Gelder at the Englewood Cliffs studio, Rouse and co departed from the normal hard-bop that as Monk’s main tenorman had earned him his New York rep and took the recent bossa nova / calypso craze, started by Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd and even Sonny Rollins to another place, superbly presented in pasted card sleeve. The sleeve shows a little shelfwear/discolouration to the back and tiny signs of wear to opening edge whilst the vinyl (with VAN GELDER stamped in the dead wax) shows only light signs of play BLP4119)
