JOE HENDERSON The State Of The Tenor Volume 1 - Live At The Village Vanguard (Limited Edition 2020 US issue of the 1986 6-track stereo LP in the Blue Note Tone Poet Series, specially plated & pressed at RTI on 180gram Vinyl & mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the original master tape. Recorded in concert at New York's historic Village Vanguard across three nights in November, 1985, with Ron Carter on Bass & Al Foster on Drums, this is the first of two volumes documenting a wonderful set of live modern jazz to a highly appreciative crowd - now sounding better than ever. Comes housed in a deluxe picture sleeve with original art, factory sealed in its perforated tear bag with hype sticker attached. Recommended B0031578-01)

In honor of Blue Note Records' 80th Anniversary, in 2019, the Jazz label launched the Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series. Blue Note President Don Was brought in "Tone Poet" Joe Harley-co-founder and co-producer of the acclaimed Music Matters Ltd. audiophile vinyl series-to produce this new series of all-analog, mastered-from-the-original-master-tape 180 gram audiophile vinyl reissues in deluxe gatefold packaging. Mastering is by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and vinyl is being manufactured at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI).

The titles were handpicked by Harley and cover lesser-known Blue Note classics, modern era standouts, and albums from other labels under the Blue Note catalogue.
