JIMMY SMITH with STANLEY TURRENTINE Prayer Meetin' (Limited Edition 2020 US issue of the 1964 6-track stereo LP in the Blue Note Tone Poet Series, specially plated & pressed at RTI on 180gram Vinyl & mastered by Kevin Gray at CohearentAudio from the original master tape. Jimmy Smith revolutionized the use of a Hammond B-3 organ. Arguably his finest moments, the sessions with Stanley Turrentine (tenor sax) helped define jazz. Prayer Meetin' is brimming with the bluesy groovesthat made their collaborations classics. Highlights include 'Red Top' & the title track's incredible interplay, while Stanley delivers a ballad tour-de-force on 'I Almost Lost My Mind'. Comes housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with original art, factory sealed in its perforated tear bag with hype sticker attached. Recommended ST-84164)

In honor of Blue Note Records' 80th Anniversary, in 2019, the Jazz label launched the Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series. Blue Note President Don Was brought in "Tone Poet" Joe Harley-co-founder and co-producer of the acclaimed Music Matters Ltd. audiophile vinyl series-to produce this new series of all-analog, mastered-from-the-original-master-tape 180 gram audiophile vinyl reissues in deluxe gatefold packaging. Mastering is by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and vinyl is being manufactured at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI).

The titles were handpicked by Harley and cover lesser-known Blue Note classics, modern era standouts, and albums from other labels under the Blue Note catalogue.
