HOWARD RUMSEY'S LIGHTHOUSE ALL-STARS Volume 4 (1991 US 12-track CD album reissued and remastered for the 'Original Jazz Classics' series. Originally recorded February 25th-26th 1954 and September 25th, 1956 Starring Bob Cooper, Bud Shank, Buddy Collette, Claude Williamson, Sonny Clark, Max Roach and Stan Levey, in an album's worth of extraordinary recordings from the hot bed of creative activity in jazz of the 1950s, The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, California, picture sleeve reproducing the original 1954 LP artwork with an illustrated roll-fold insert including notes on the recordings, tracklist/credits and detachable record company mail card, with inlay all housed in a jewel case. Historically the CD includes some of the earliest examples of the flute and oboe in a contemporary jazz setting. A marvel! OJCCD-154-2)
