JAMES BROWN The Payback (Totally bad-to-the-bone 1974 German 8-track double LP, front laminated gatefold picture sleeve. The Payback was originally scheduled as the soundtrack to the blaxploitation movie Hell Up In Harlem, but was bizarrely rejected by the director as 'not James Brown enough'. Obviously that man had cloth ears, as this is now considered a high point in JB's career and a landmark funk album, featuring cyclical grooves and jamming with edges of softer blues creepingin. The sleeve shows a small ding at the opening and a little paper loss inside the gatefold but otherwise very little shelfwear & the vinyl remains in excellent condition with few signs of play)
