KENNY BURRELL Midnight Blue (1963 US first press 7-track mono LP on the 'New York USA' address label, with the 'ear' markings & the 'Van Gelder' stamps in the run-outs. This is one of Kenny's most well known & best loved works for Blue Note, expertly backed by tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, bassist Major Holley, drummer Bill English, & Ray Barretto on conga. The pasted laminate picture sleeve is Excellent with sharp edges & nice clean panels. There is some foxing on the backwhere the original UK tax stickers are attached. The vinyl has been play tested & grades VG, sounding crisp & clear on a mono playback setting with light background surface on occasion. Visually, there are some minor paper scuffs & a light scratch during 'Wavy Gravy' which has little effect on play. A nice, if not mint, example BLP4123)
