PERSIAN RISK Calling For You 7" + Ridin' High 7" + Fully Signed
Contract + Signed Photos (Here we have a unique one-off collection of
exclusive material obtained directly from the head of the Persian Risk
fan club of the early eighties. Hailing from Cardiff, Wales, these guys
were at the more melodic end of NWOBHM & were the brainchild of
Grammy Award winning guitarist Phil Campbell, a longtime member of
Motörhead for 30 years & one of the great heroes of Welsh rock
music. First up, we have an original fully signed
contract for the group's recording agreement with Heavy Metal
Records. Running across eleven A4 pages, the contract is for the
group's contribution to the Heavy Metal Heroes compilation LP
[HMRLP7] in 1982, where 'Calling For You' was featured. The whole
agreement is typed out in law terms & hand dated 30th July 1982 with
the full names & addresses of the participants involved - Carl
Sentence, Philip Campbell, Nick Hughes & Russel Lenon - with
royalties & an advance on signature of £100 for the cost of production.
These private documents are signed on behalf of the label & the last
page is signed in blue biro by the entire group! In addition to these
one of a kind documents is their rare debut 7" vinyl single 'Calling For
You'/ 'Chase The Dragon' [SRTS81/CUS1146] from 1981 with the
original picture sleeve, privately pressed in a limited run & now very
sought after, as well as their second 7" vinyl single 'Ridin' High'/ 'Hurt
You' [NEAT24] from after they signed a contract with the legendary
Neat Records in 1983, complete with picture sleeve. Last but not least,
we have two large black & white publicity photos of the group. These
were promotional-only tools but also appeared amongst fan club
bundles. What is unique here is that both are fully autographed by
each original group member in blue & black pen. Rock n Roll! All items
are in Excellent condition, with some light wear to the picture sleeves
& minor signs of play with the vinyl. The signatures are crystal clear,
making for a great addition to any metal collection. These are prize
items from just one particular band that played their part in the glory
days of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Prize items from the
genre's birth & first discernible movement, when an explosion of
heavy metal LPs & indie 45s emerged from all over the UK between
1980 to 1983. In a bid for glory, Persian Risk were one of many
unsung bands that took full advantage of punk rock's decline, upping
the ante & turning the amps to 11, drawing inspiration from the
ferocity & audacity of punk's rush to market & do it yourself attitude in
the process. All hail then the mighty Persian Risk!)
