DEXTER GORDON A Swingin' Affair (Very rare 1962 US original 6-track MONO vinyl LP, with 'New York USA' label address, 'Van Gelder' machine stamped in the run-offs both sides & an 'ear' etching in the run-outs, front laminate pasted picture sleeve with '43 West 61st Street, New York 23' address, tax import stickers on the back & catalogue inner. This treasured album was recorded during a highly creative period, just two days after Dexter's masterful Go! album with the same personnel; Sonny Clark, ButchWarren & Billy Higgins. This beautiful collector's original was pressed after "Blue Note Records" became an incorporated company & a registered trademark, so the 'INC' & 'R' on the labels is present [unlike earlier albums on the label]. Historically, it is the very first pressing from 1962.

Obtained from a one previous owner collection, with all records bought from new at the time as exotic imports in the UK, this is the first time we have secured a true MONO original, the very best in terms of sound quality. A combination of Van Gelder's sound engineering & Plastylite pressing was the 'golden age' of highest quality, Blue Note pressings.

The heavyweight pasted laminate sleeve is in beautiful shape. Clean, with no splits, rich colours & all text clearly legible. The sleeve easily meets an Excellent condition grade. It really is stunning.

A lovely clean & crisp Blue Note catalogue inner is enclosed with no writing or splits.

The colours of the labels are bright & vivid with no tears to the print, a slight raised edge & no import stickers. There are some light spindle marks to indicate play but nothing of any real consequence.

The heavyweight vinyl is super clean & grades Excellent. On close inspection, there is just a little light axial wear or one or two faint paper scuffs to indicate play or handling in the past. Upon play testing both sides, we can confirm this one sounds truly remarkable & as good as it gets! Highly recommended.
