BUD SHANK & BOB BROOKMEYER Bud Shank & Bob Brookmeyer (Unique 1954 UK 7-track mono 10" double-sided metal based ultra high-grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate, also starring Claude Williamson [piano], Buddy Clark or Joe Mondragon [bass], Larry Bunker [drums] & a string section arranged by Russ Garcia, with a wonderful wraparound artwork sleeve hand drawn by a very keen fan over sixty years ago. The acetate has a Master Sound System manufacturing label both sides & comes housed in a stickered reference sleeve, annotated 'Shank With Strings'. See 'more info' for further details...)

The surface of the acetate shows some natural cosmetic wear & a few light scuffs as to be expected. It would benefit from a professional clean [distilled water only] & is left 'as is'. The mono playback is of great clarity.

This disc was produced & overseen by a keen fan of the period who witnessed the birth of modern jazz being exported from the States & also the homegrown variety, judging by the amount of Brit-Jazz acetates we have found from the same collection. This chap was also a keen illustrator with industry connections.

The disc is housed between a 10" sized wraparound yellow card sleeve. The artwork appears to be a unique concept & no doubt influenced by the line art of the great David Stone Martin. The layout is modern & well thought out & a stunning example of homemade jazz art of the fifties.
