CANNED HEAT Canned Heat - Reference Disc (1967 US 11-track double sided metal based high grade methyl cellulose lacquer actetate for the Mono debut LP release, with typed Liberty Reference Record labels. This acetate is particularly notable for being dated 19th May 1967, a full two months before the album was released, and also for having the tracks in a different running order to that on the released LP. The track timings match the released timings, so it is assumed that this wastaken from the final mixdown versions. Recorded & presumably cut at Liberty's L.A. studios, there are several not unexpected surface scuffs and hairlines across both sides, although it still tracks without fault. For a delicate acetate fast approaching its fiftieth birthday, this should come as no real surprise & a degree of background noise should be expected. As a historic artifact it remains an extraordinarily rare piece as acetates seldom leave the studio and are always cut in very small quantities, normally less than a handful & often one-offs)
