Fr. OSWALD BAKER The Mass At Downham Market (1975 UK stereo vinyl LP featuring a recording of the last mass given by Fr. Oswald Baker that still upheld the texts of the Mass as set out by Pope St. Pius V, rather than capitulate to the 'modernised' Novus Ordo version of the Mass as decreed by the second Vatican Council. In 1975 Fr. Baker was subsequently forced out of his position when the Diocese took control of the church, but continued to live in the Presbytery, performing the old mass elsewhere until 1989. The front laminated picture sleeve shows Fr. Baker and has a detailed history of the Mass and the controversy resulting from its modernisation on the reverse. The sleeve shows a degree of minor discolouration & foxing to the unlaminated back, but otherwise minimal shelfwear, with all text clearly readable. The vinyl remains near 'as new' showing little sign of play. A little piece of history that will not happen again CC1)
