ERSKINE HAWKINS QUINTET The Hawk Blows At Midnight (1960 UK 12-track deep groove stereo LP. After many years of recording with a big band, Hawkins cut his first album here with a small combo. Sharing the frontline with him were Bobby Smith & Leroy Kirkland, completed by a tight rhythm section comprising Ernest Hayes, Shep Shepherd & Lloyd Trotman. The front laminated flipback sleeve is lightly discoloured with a little ring wear yet the vinyl is clean with just a few faint paper scuffhairlines to indicate play STA3042)
