YUSEF LATEEF Eastern Sounds (1972 US stereo issue of the very rare 1961 9-track LP, also featuring Barry Harris on Piano, Ernie Farrow on Bass & Rabat & Lex Humphries on Drums, an outstanding album that should be in every adventurous jazz music lover's collection. Eastern Sounds brings a wonderful oriental feel into the world of cool jazz, opening with The Plum Blossom, written for and played upon a Chinese globular flute, a twelve hundred year old instrument made of clay! The pastedpicture sleeve replicates the 1964 Prestige issue artwork & shows just a little shelfwear & a bit of edge scuffing, with the vinyl remaining in excellent condition, showing few signs of play PRT7319)
